Testing the parachutes

We've tested a lot of parachutes made by us, both at school and other places, and faced a lot of difficulties, as most of them didn't work. Even the ones that worked weren't very good. This problem is increased, of course, by the fact that the parachute has to work as a parafoil. That's why we finally decided to buy our own parafoil and simply change it a bit.

Here are three videos showing us testing some parachutes made by us:

Creating our parachute

We've been working very hard on the creation of our parachute lately. We've watched Youtube videos explaining how to create parachutes, we've sown a lot, we've used different materials, by recycling plastic bags and sleeping bags, and we've subjected our parachutes to tests, by dropping them from the highest accessible spot in school (which isn't very high). It's a hard job to find the ideal parachute, and the fact that we need it to be a paraglider for the autonomous flight makes it even harder. Here we've got a parachute being worked on:

Later on, I will show some videos where we test the parachute.

Our presentation

Last Thursday, a professor from the University of Algarve  came to our school on our request to talk about ozone, its creation, decomposition, benefits and drawbacks. We also decided to present our team, our missions and CanSat in general, as our secondary mission is related to this subject. This is the Powerpoint presentation we used.
